SENIOR PROJECT MISSION STATEMENT
The Senior Project provides students with the opportunity to conduct an in-depth exploration of personal interests and demonstrate skills necessary to meet the challenges for future employment.
SENIOR PROJECT PURPOSE AND RATIONALE
EPHS has chosen to establish Senior Project as the one of the two methods of meeting and measuring each EPHS senior student’s proficiency for graduation. Successful completion of Senior Project is a mandatory graduation requirement. The East Providence School Committee Policy (IV.D.1) includes the completion of Senior Project as part of the East Providence School Department’s graduation requirements.
This experience will focus on the K-12 education and showcase the skills and abilities that will be expected of a successful post- secondary student, employee and / or citizen.
The Rhode Island High School Diploma System, the Board of Regents, and the Rhode Island Department of Education have mandated graduation requirements for all students beginning with the class of 2008 and all graduating classes forward.
This new Rhode Island Diploma System applies to all RI public secondary schools. The new system addresses proficiency in core content knowledge, applied learning skills and support systems for all students. The implementation of this new diploma system recognizes the need to insure that all RI students successfully complete a rigorous high school diploma program that gives them access to college or post-secondary training, whether immediately following high school or when and if they so choose.
